Stage description
Which control in the photo matches the one shown on the map?
Recommended device
Desktop computer or laptop.
Details
On the photo you’ll see controls A, B, C, D, E and F. You must chose the one that matches the map. If you think none match the map pick Z.
Each different photo is called a station (as you’re ‘stood’ in that position). At each station there are several puzzles – each puzzle has a different map/control circle on.
TempO is the speed version of Trail Orienteering which is why the penalty for an incorrect answer is small.
Zero (Z) Tolerance: For the kite to be wrong on a point feature it needs to be 135 degrees from the correct site, as per TempO rules. Basically this means that if the description says boulder NW side and you think it is more like N or even NE side then you should answer with this control flag letter rather than ‘Zero/Z’.
Scoring
At the end you’ll be ranked by:
- The time you took.
- If you pick a wrong control then you get a 30 second penalty.
Warm-up
You can do 1 station (5 puzzles) to warm up here. Map is 1:4,000.
Ready to compete?
See note on tolerance above.
There’ll be 5 stations with 4-5 problems at each.
You will be in Japan, Argentina and the UK!
Not all photos have the control letters on (more like real TempO competitions). Control A is always on left and Control F on right.
When you’re ready to play go to this link.
When you finish, your result will be automatically recorded
